The maid had opened the main door to Helen Daniels, shown the stable girl into the spacious lounge then discreetly retired. Helen had no idea why she had been summoned to the big house. Living in rooms above the stables like the other girls and lads who tended the race horses owned by Lady Marsha Tewkesury, this was a rare treat, to glimpse how the rich and privileged lived. 

The girl gasped. She hadn’t heard anyone enter, yet Lady Marsha was suddenly there, clad as was usual during the day in riding gear of hacking jacket and jodhpurs. ‘So,’ the elegant woman said in her refined tones, ‘you are Helen Daniels.’

Three time Janus star Helen Daniels made her first appearance in Janus 152. She went on to appear again in Janus 154 and Janus 163. Helen was an especially popular model and her splendid bottom came in for high praise from Janus readers. We’re delighted to feature some additional photos of her out of her jodhpurs and a couple of charming out-takes from the shoot.

The latest digital spanking magazines to be added to the Janus Online shop are an eclectic mix of vintage titles. Of particular interest is the Phoenix Special Issue celebrating the drawings of Hans Braun. Copies of this magazine are almost impossible to find, and for good reason. Many of the individual drawings (see below) have appeared on different sites over the years and this magazine is the likely source. The editorial sets out why this has become such a sought after issue:

In this issue the texts have been chosen to illustrate the pictures rather than the other way round: our primary purpose being to bring together as many as possible of the drawings of Hans Braun: 56 in fact – 16 of them never reproduced in this country before.

Braun, a civil engineer from Munich says that he went to a school where corporal punishment was an established part of the curriculum and later learned to draw in a rudimentary way at the college of engineering. Structures were his professional interest but the structure and form of female bottoms became a private obsession – perhaps just because they had been so notably absent in his monastic schooldays. His knowledge of the architecture of the bottom comes from the bedroom, he informs us, rather than from the life classes of an art school and he still likes to regard himself as an enthusiastic amateur in relationship to the subject matter illustrated here.

We’re delighted this weekend to be able to publish Fiona Lewison’s account of her efforts to re-introduce spanking into her life. Visitors to this site will already be familiar with Fiona’s earlier disciplinary experiences but, after a long absence, she has dipped her toe into the water once again.

“When I started writing ‘A Woman’s Awakening’ a few months back, I believed that my days of being punished were over, that it was something that belonged to my life with my husband and was best left in the past. I felt that being spanked by another man would be somehow pointless, wrong, unfaithful even, but since writing my disciplinary history, and getting more involved with Janus, my feelings have changed. It seemed the right time to move on, to exorcise some ghosts and, perhaps more importantly, to feel that sense of chastisement once again. I had, if I’m being honest, missed it terribly…”

Three more vintage spanking magazines have been added to the Janus Online Shop today.

Blushes 63 and New Justice Vol.3 No.7 contain the usual selection of excellent unpublished images from earlier photo shoots. London Life Vol.1 No.2 marked the magazine out as one of the highest quality spanking magazines produced in the late 1970s. It featured some excellent photo shoots capturing the anticipation and aftermath of corporal punishment (see below) and the addition of a good selection of original fiction and readers’ letters made for a very popular format. This correspondent must also confess to having a soft spot for the London street scenes they featured on the back cover of each magazine – so much has changed in the intervening thirty five years.
