Richard Hardy didn’t exactly need a ‘Girl Friday’ but a pretty face and cheerful presence around the house would brighten his life and provide a pleasant diversion from the tedium of work.
Kelly Lee landed the job. She’d been chosen from over 20 girls, many of whom had better qualifications than she. Richard had been honest with her at the interview about his desire to see her in different outfits some of which he would supply. Now here she was at the start of her third week and he’d asked her to put on the maid’s dress again and clean the house…

With Wimbledon around the corner we thought we’d feature 18-year-old Julianne McGregor and her coach Sylvia Jenkins. Sylvia’s unorthodox coaching regime includes exercise, routine, diet and suppression but when all else fails there is always corporal punishment.
“I’m not punishing you for doing something wrong, but caning you in order to help you get things right” Sylvia explains chirpily. The humour is lost on Julianne, who is still trying to make sense of the word ‘caning’…

We felt it was appropriate during these European Championships to revisit our soccer star, Cassie Oliver, who appeared in Janus 125 back in 1998. In Cassie’s most recent appearance for the national side she’d played well below par and was half expecting to be called in for extra training. Her coach, Glynn Haddle (ho-ho!), has other ideas about how to raise her performance level…
