For the upcoming release of  her new film ‘A Dangerous Method’ Keira Knightley has been giving many interviews about her latest role. Not surprisingly the subject of spanking has come up on more than a few occasions. At the London premiere she gave an interview to ITN where she admitted that in England she was being asked about those scenes all the time. She concluded “I don’t know what it says about us. We obviously like spanking.” Too true Keira!

Regular visitors to this page will know that we have been appealing to collectors to try and find some of our early missing Janus videos. I’m delighted to report this week has seen a number of old titles returned to the archive. 

We’re very grateful to Tam for tracking down ‘The Dressing Lesson’, ‘The Swimming Pool’ ‘Low Marks’ and ‘Cane for Jane’. All of these films were originally shown in the viewing booths in the Janus Shop in the early 80’s. The picture quality is not of today’s standards but there is something special about these old movies that to me makes them more interesting than much of the content produced today. 

Perhaps what makes them different is the effort the filmmakers put in to telling a story (sometimes, it must be said, without great success!) or perhaps it was because the models had not already appeared many times in other productions. Who knows – perhaps this correspondent is just getting old and nostalgic!

So for starters we hope you enjoy this short clip from ‘The Swimming Pool’…

We’ve also managed to find a seven-minute section of the film ‘Auntie gets Angry’ in somewhat low quality. The film was described in Janus as follows: ‘Untidy Elizabeth is given a thorough spanking – first on the seat of her tight knickers then on her bare bottom. Her Auntie also slaps her legs before taking off her belt and administering this to the whimpering girl’s buttocks. Then it’s upstairs to the girl’s room where she is bent over the stool for a bare bottomed dose of the cane.’

We’ve added three of the most requested issues of Janus to our online shop today. There’s the first 100th issue from 1980 (Volume 9 No 4), New Janus 1 from 1981 and the second 100th issue from 1993.

Janus photographer Roy Tersley has restored all three covers, which we’ve included below. The cover of New Janus 1 had been a source of irritation to Roy for years – it’s a great cover but he hated seeing that piece of torn carpet in the bottom left hand corner. Finally he’s been able to ‘repair it’ and I’m pleased to report he’s sleeping through the night once again!

I did point out to Roy that some purists (well, me!) love that piece of torn carpet and would miss it if it were gone – for that reason we’ve cleaned the carpet for the digital edition of New Janus 1 but not repaired it!

Back in 1987 DH from Hamburg sent in three wonderful photos of herself awaiting punishment. These powerful images (one of which was unpublished) were found in the Janus archive and we felt they deserved to be seen together.

We’re pleased to announce that we are now adding digital copies of classic issues of Blushes to our online store. As most visitors here will know all of these magazines are long out of print and very difficult to find.

It’s obvious from opening the first issue of Blushes that it was a labour of love. The magazine was produced by people who understood the importance of capturing images that conveyed an atmosphere of formality, anxiety and anticipation to the reader.  (On a personal note I’d love to know where they found all their beautiful, willing, ‘girl next door’ models!)

We’re pleased that all these magazines are available once again. Long time collectors are now able to plug gaps in their collections and a whole new generation are discovering these wonderful magazines for the first time.

We’ll be continuing to add to our range over the coming months – look out for some of the early Janus volumes and Spanking Specials.
